|
Prof. V. Subramanyan Industrial Achivement Award
|
This award is instituted by AFST(I) to commemorate the sterling contribution by late Dr V Subrahmanyan, the Founder Director of CFTRI,Mysore. in the field of Food Science & Technology, that laid the foundation of a nascent Food Processing Industry in the country. The award recognises an individual for his/her contribution to the development of agro based and allied industries in india in the year 2005.
The guidelines for the award are : Any person with outstanding achievement in the field of food processing will be considered for the award. The nominee should have contributed significantly to the enrichment of food science and technology and the development of agro-based food and allied industries in India. The nominations duly proposed must be accompanied by the bio-data of the nominee, highlighting the work done by him/her for which he/she is to be considered for the award. The award will be selected by a search committee constituted by the Central Executive Committee of the Association. The committee can also recommend on its own candidates considered eminent by their collective wisdom for the award. Central Executive Committee mem-bers of AFST(I) are not eligible to apply for the award during their tenure. Applications are invited once a year.

Nominations Invited for Fellows of AFST(I)
The Association has pleasure in inviting nominations from persons to be conferred as "Fellow of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India)" (FAFST) to honour those who have made significant contributions to the progress of food science and technology.
General
The awarded will be called as Fellow of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) and in an abbreviated form as AFST.
The total number of fellows of the Association will not exceed 5% of the total membership at given time, including regular and life members of the Association, in any given year or a cumulative of 100, whichever is lower.
The title of Fellow has so far been awarded to 76 distinguished personalities who have significantly contributed to the progress of food science and technology.
Eligibility
The aim is to honor persons of outstanding merit who have contributed significantly in the field of food science and technology including R & D, product/project development, industry, transfer of technology and marketing. The merit of contribution should be the main criterion.
Among the Fellows to be nominated every year, 70% will be from AFST(I) and remaining 30% may be from nonmembers who have contributed significantly to the development of food science and technology.
Nominations
The nomination for Fellow should be proposed by 5 AFST(I) members of good standing for a minimum of 5 years or by2 Fellows of the Association. This is applicable to AFST(I) members as well as non-members.
Any regular or life member of AFST(I), who has been continuously a member of the Association can propose the nomination for only one Fellow in a particular year.
The nomination letter must contain sufficient justification for conferring the coveted fellowship on the candidate proposed.
A brief bio-data of the nominee high-lighting the scientific or technological achievements in the area of food science and technology, supported by a list of publications not exceeding 10 important research papers or other supporting documents not exceeding 20 pages, must accompany the nominations.
Central Executive Committee members of AFST(I) are not eligible to be nominated as Fellows.
The nomination duly proposed shall be sent to the Hon. Secretary, AFST(I).
Selection of Fellows
The nominations received will be placed before an expert committee, appointed by the CEC for suitable recommendations to CEC. CEC by majority decision will finalise the names of Fellows for each year. The decision of CEC in this matter will be final.

Conferring as Fellows
The Fellow will be conferred with a Citation at the time of AGBM or at any other suitable function of the Association.
The Association may invite a Fellow, to deliver special lectures in the area of their specialization either at the AGBM or any other function arranged by the AFST(I).

Dr HAB Parpia Food Industry Management Award
|
This award is industry by AFST(I) in the name of Dr HAB Parpia, Former Director, Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore in recognition of his yeoman service to Food Processing Industry and Human Resource Development in the area of Food Science & Technology. The award recognises credible achievements in the field of Planning and management of Food Processing Industries.
(1) Any person with credible achievement in the field of planning, development and management in food processing snd packaging industries.
(2) The nominee should have contributed significantly to the enrichment of any sector of food processing industry through application of modern management systems.

Subhash Bhatnagar Memorial Award
|
This award has been instituted to honour and encourage middle level workers like technicians, mechanical, electrical and other ancillary staff, who make significant positive contribution for the industrial productivity.

Dr JS Pruthi Award
|
S. Pruthi award has been instituted by Late Dr J. S. Pruthi to be given to scientists/technologists, who have made significant contributions to the development of fruit and vegetable preservation industry in India. Nominations with details of biodata of the candidate may be sent to the Hon. Secretary, AFST(I), CFTRI Campus, Mysore 570 020.

Sarada Charan Das memorial Award
|
AFST(I) is instituting an award to commemorate the pioneering achievements of late Shri Sarada Charan Das the founder of K C Das & Co., on the occasion of his Birth Centenary and the Diamond Jubilee Year of the Company he founded. The Award to be conferred each year on any single individual for his/her life-time research achievement on food especially dairy foods with a potential for industrial application or already being used by the industry.
Any AFST (I) member or LEC of AFST(I) can send Nomination(s) to Hon. Secretary with as many details as possible justifying why the honour should be bestowed on the particular nominee. An eminent jury with reputed peers will select the most deserving candidate and after CEC approval, the award would be conferred on the occasion of AGBM.
Awardee will receive Rs 1 lakh, a plaque and a citation from for the chief guest of the Annual Convention or the CEO of K C Das & Co. AFST(I) Members and local CECs are requested to consider nominating eminent person with excellent track record before August 31, of the year.

This award is to honour an individual, who has made significant contributions towards teaching of Food Science and Technology.

|
This is to be awarded for excellence in research and development in pulse processing and utilization.

Young Scientist Award
|
The award is aimed at stimulating distinguished scientific and technological research in the field of food science and technology amongst young scientists in their early career.
The guidelines for the award are:
Original scientific research of high quality, primarily by way of published research papers and (especially if the papers are under joint authorship) the candidate's own contribution to the work.

Best Student Award
|
The award is to be given to a student having a distinguished academic record and undergoing the final year course in food science and technology in any recognised university in India. The aim of the award is to recognize the best talent in the field and to encourage excellence amongst the student community.
The guidelines for the award are:
- M.Sc. (Food Science/Food Tech- nology)
- B.Tech., B.Sc. (Tech)., B.Sc. (Chem. Tech) with Food Technology Specialization.
Heads of the Department of Food Science and Technology in various universities may sponsor the name of one student from each institution, supported by the candidate's bio-data, details starting from high school onwards, including date of birth and post-graduate performance to date.

Best Paper –JFST
|
These awards are given by the AFST(I) to the author(s), who have contributed the best paper to the Journal of Food Science and Technology in the preceeding year. A panel of experts, constituted by the Central Executive Committee will scrutinize the issues and select the best paper.

Best Feature Article –IFI
|
These awards are given by the AFST(I) to the author(s), who have contributed the best feature article to the Indian Food Industry published in the preceeding year. A panel of experts, constituted by the Central Executive Committee will scrutinize the issues feature article for the award.

AFST(I) education & Publication Trust Scholarship Award
|
Applications are invited for the AFST(I) Education and Publication Trust Scholarship from the students, who are undergoing second year Post-Graduation in Food Science and Techno-logy. Those who are interested to apply for the scholarship may request the Hon. Secretary, AFST(I), CFTRI Campus, Mysore 570 020 for the application-form.
